Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
