Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
