The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
